About
StudioVixen is the photographic division of Masseclik Creative Agency, LLC that focuses on the beautiful and the intimate, the exciting and a little bit taboo.
We’ve been featured in magazines and art exhibits, calendars and ad campaigns. We are overt, we are discreet, we are alternative, we are burlesque, we are boudoir, we make no apologizes, for we are StudioVixen.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How much does it cost?
StudioVixen shoots are typically booked in two-hour blocks (unless otherwise noted for specials). Our standard rate is $75 per hour, so expect a typical sitting to cost $150. Payment is due at the time of the shoot.
I know what kind of sexy content I want for my shoot, but I’m unsure of the terminology. How do I ask for _____?
Clothed/non-nude
is exactly as it sounds. These shots can be sexy, they can be wearing a variety of clothing, but they imply photos that are safe for posting on social media (where kids could potentially see them). Lingerie can be used for this type of shoot, but generally nothing see-through.
Implied
is for implied nudity…showing more skin (or perhaps lingerie that is more sheer) or even wearing nothing at all, but also covering or shadowing the body in creative ways so as to not blatantly show any nudity. The majority of our shoots (and many of the photos we’ve posted here) fall into this category. They can be every bit as sexy as the categories that follow, and sometimes even more-so…a by-product of leaving a little something to the imagination.
Topless/T&A
is for shots that show a little more…topless and/or showing some behind, but still falling short of full frontal nudity. These fall closer to playboy-style photos while still keeping some mystery and a bit of modesty. These shots still tend to use some creative shadows and covering, but are far less concerned with needing to keep it PG-13 and if something shows, no big deal.
Nude
is exactly what you’d expect. If you’re asking for this chances are you’re already comfortable with it. We still try to keep it artistic and sexy without being blatantly pornographic (we’re not THAT kind of studio) but there are many more possibilities for poses without the restrictions of the previous categories.
Your concept may fall into any one of these categories, or perhaps span a couple of them. This terminology is just a guideline to get the client and photographer on the same page…once we have an idea of what you’re looking for we can discuss your shoot more specifically and go into your booking comfortable that your boundaries will not be inadvertently over-stepped.
What happens to the photos after the shoot?
Well, first, we back up your set to a secure drive on-site and erase the card! After everything is edited we will contact you to ask for a password. Nothing is posted publicly without permission. We’re very discreet; any photos you see posted here were purpose-shot for use on this page, or were posted with the full consent and blessing of the subjects for advertising purposes. We don’t generally ask for permission to show your photos because we take your privacy very seriously.
So! Once your photos are finished we will contact you to ask for a password to set for your folder. The photos will be uploaded to a LOCKED, private folder (named using only your initials, no full names), and only people with the password will have access to be able to view images and place print orders.
My shoot is coming up soon! How do I get ready?
The day before your shoot
Don’t drink, don’t tan. The only thing harder to hide than recent sun damage and unevenness is the tint caused by artificial light. If you’ve tanned we’ll do what we can, but it is far easier to get a natural, healthy glow with our lights in the studio than it is to try to fix sunburns and orange skin. Both tanning and drinking will dehydrate you to a degree and will also have an adverse effect on your skin. Instead drink plenty of fluids the day before and focus more on health. Your efforts to do so will have a positive impact.
The day of your shoot
Get plenty of rest the night before. Pamper yourself with a hot bath the morning of. Ex-foliate. We’ll manage the studio environment (temp) to match your shoot so you stay comfortable (no goosebumps!) Keep make-up to a minimum…it is easier to add during the shoot (and thus keep your skin pristine) than remove.
Wear loose clothing. Sweats are perfect. After all that work to look your best, it would be a shame to have lines in your skin because you wore something too tight.
Feel free to have your hair done before your shoot. You are welcome to do it on-location too if you’d rather, but you’ll save a lot of time doing it before-hand and making minor adjustments as we go. However if you want to arrange to have a hairstylist and/or make-up artist on the set with you, that is perfectly fine. If you would like recommendations we can provide some as we have several hairstylists and make-up artists who have worked with us in the past.
Things to bring with you
• Photo ID – we need to make a copy of this. While we’re copying it we will also have you fill out a short form (specifically, a “RECORDS KEEPING COMPLIANCE FORM PURSUANT TO 18 U.S.C. § 2257″) stating you are not a minor. This is for everyone’s protection. None of this information is made available to the public, but we are legally required to keep this on-hand for compliance should the federal government ever decide to inspect us. This is simply so that we can prove that the subjects in any photos we have taken that could possibly be construed as containing sexual content are legal adults.
• Music – Feel free to bring your ipod or CDs of whatever music makes you feel the most comfortable and at home, and we’ll be happy to have it playing during your shoot.
• Wine/spirits – if it helps you take the edge off, we have no problem with it. We don’t want anyone getting inebriated on-set, but have found that a little goes a long way toward helping people build up the courage needed to get the shots they’re really wanting.
• Make-up – This is the one of those things we can’t be sharing from person to person, so be sure to bring your own make-up.
• Clothing – We do have some props and are slowly building a collection of corsets and assorted lingerie, but we cannot guarantee to have a specific style in a specific size. Bring as much as you want…it is better to have too many options than to wish you had brought that cute new item with you.
• Form of payment – We currently take cash, check, and paypal.
